CHRIST CHURCH SWEEPS PORTLAND Christ Church hosted Portland Monday night in room 003 and never trailed. After a scoreless top of the first in Game One, Leah Bennett led off the bottom of the first with a single and scored on a triple by Mike Peak (RBI). Portland tied the score a half inning later on a home run by Mike E. Another lead off single in the third by Leah was followed by another triple, this time by Mike Thompson (RBI). A home run by James tied the score in the fourth before Vince Richards (RBI) homered in the bottom of the inning to put Christ Church back in front. In the fifth, Dick Lutz singled; Mike P (RBI) tripled; David Stierle (RBI) singled; and Sydney Raderer (RBI) tripled to score three and increase the lead to four. A two run eighth (a triple by Nathan and a homer by Dave) cut the lead in half. Christ Church added an insurance run on a home run by Susan Gault in the bottom of the eighth. Sydney added a single in the third and Mike P had a single and Mike T reached on an error in the seventh.

In Game Two, Leah singled in the first but was left on base. In the second, doubles by Nora Lusk and Andy Coates (RBI) put Christ Church in front to stay. It was 2-0 after four on a home run by Andy and 3-0 after six on a homer by Nora. In the eighth, Nora reached on an error; Andy (RBI) tripled; Sydney (2 RBI); and Susan homered for a 7-0 final score. Leah in the second and Don Meredith in the seventh added singles; and Andy doubled and Sydney advanced him with a sacrifice in the sixth.

Christ Church started strongly in Game Three. Don led off with a single; Mike P (RBI) tripled; and with two outs, Nora (RBI), Nick Peak (RBI); and Andy (RBI) doubled. David singled in the second but died on base. Nathan homered in the third for Portland's only run.
